The other day in my Discord server someone was curious about my writing/creative process. I told them about my idea organization habit. My process is similar to a cook who is into inventing recipe. I think of something, start from somewhere, almost 100/100 percent of time the final product isn’t even what I initially wanted to make. I get carried away when various idea sparks, then the direction changes.
We live in an age where artist reference referenced. This method for creating art is like tree’s growth rings —- A referenced B referenced C referenced D referenced E, and so on. We consume recycled art and it feels forced to be excited about what’s been presented sometimes.
Artist is universe-experiencer, therefore this life for them is unpredictable and transient. They practice the magic of creating out of nothing. 2 years ago, I was having a session with Joba of Brockhampton. The session was nearly 10 hours long, we were jamming on instruments and computer, I was going down my memory lane trying to find a topic that I want to write songs about. Around noon / after we made a cool chorus idea, Joba said something like: “ when we got together this morning, there was nothing, but now, we just created this piece of beautiful music out of thin air. How delightful is that.”
Everyday I keep my curious eyes open even when I’m dreaming. I talk to my heart, train my fingers and my mind. Sometimes I practice harp in the morning, or practice fast reading, and those things been bringing me peace recently. I am about to go on my headline tour soon so life is going to be on the road again, so excited < 3
I LOVE this so much. I get inspired by so many things out in the world. My Samsung notes are FILLED with shiny new ideas!
